Galician hotels closed the month of July receiving more travelers, recording a significant increase in the number of overnight stays and an improvement in quality indicators. This is reflected in data from the National Statistics Institute (INE<\/a>) – in the absence of collecting data for travelers and overnight stays recorded in other types of accommodation (rural tourism establishments, tourist apartments, hostels and campsites).<\/p>\n

According to these data, the Galician hotel sector received 546,620 travellers in July, 7.6% more than in the same period last year. It is worth noting the strong momentum of international tourism, which recorded a rise of 12.2%. Even so, our region continues to be one of the main destinations of travelers living in Spain, ranking 5th by autonomous communities.<\/p>\n

Galician hotels not only received a greater number of visitors in July, but these made a greater number of nights. The total number of overnight stays exceeded 1.2 million, 6.7% more than in July 2018.<\/p>\n

From these data, the average stay (total number of travellers among the number of overnight stays) was 2.24 nights, similar to previous years.<\/p>\n

The INE data also show that the occupancy rate experienced a rise of nearly 3%, reaching a figure of 53.61% very similar to that of 2017. Weekend occupancy averaged 62.14%, with slower growth of 1.78%.<\/p>\n

If we talk about accumulated numbers, Galicia has received in the first seven months of the year a total of 2,370,169 visitors – in the absence of knowing the figures of the extrahotel offer that the INE will publish next week.<\/p>\n

The Galician hotel sector achieves better profitability figures<\/strong><\/p>\n

The bet for the professionalization and the improvement of the competitiveness of the Galician hotel establishments is reflected in the improvement of both the profitability and the tariffs.<\/p>\n

Specifically, the improvement in profitability (RevPAR – average income per room) stands out, which is 7.3% higher than 2018 and stands at 35.80\u20ac in the highest figure of the decade.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the Average Daily Rate (ADR) rose by 2.37% in the same period to 64.13\u20ac.<\/p>\n

Lugo leads growth<\/strong><\/p>\n

In terms of data by province, all recorded a positive and homogeneous behaviour of hotel demand.<\/p>\n

In absolute terms, Pontevedra is the province that absorbs the greatest volume of demand in the Community as a whole thanks to the good data recorded in the coastal destinations. It is followed by A Coru\u00f1a, Lugo and Ourense.<\/p>\n

As far as the percentage of growth and putting the sight in the volume of nights, Lugo is the province that more growth, with 14.2%; followed by Pontevedra, with 6.5%; Ourense, with 5.7%, and A Coru\u00f1a, with 5.1%, some increases equal to the number of passengers accommodated.<\/p>\n
