{"id":29975,"date":"2021-12-19T11:00:33","date_gmt":"2021-12-19T11:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/desarrollo.clusterturismogalicia.com\/galicia-and-the-north-of-portugal-join-forces-to-promote-river-tourism\/"},"modified":"2021-12-19T11:00:33","modified_gmt":"2021-12-19T10:00:33","slug":"galicia-and-the-north-of-portugal-join-forces-to-promote-river-tourism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/desarrollo.clusterturismogalicia.com\/en\/galicia-and-the-north-of-portugal-join-forces-to-promote-river-tourism\/","title":{"rendered":"Galicia and the North of Portugal join forces to promote river tourism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The boat of the project &#8220;R\u00edo Mi\u00f1o, a navigable destination&#8221; has already made its presentation crossing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The consolidation of the stretch of the Mi\u00f1o river that traces the border between Galicia and Portugal as a unique and differentiating tourist destination is the main objective of &#8220;R\u00edo Mi\u00f1o, a navigable destination&#8221;, a project in which the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.xunta.gal\/portada\">Xunta<\/a> de Galicia (through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.turismo.gal\/inicio\">Galicia Tourism Agency<\/a> and the Directorate General for Natural Heritage), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.portoenorte.pt\/es\/\">Porto and Northern of Portugal<\/a> Tourism and four municipalities on both banks are participating: the Galician towns of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.concellodesalvaterra.com\/\">Salvaterra<\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/tui.gal\/\">Tui<\/a>, and the Portuguese towns of <a href=\"https:\/\/cm-valenca.pt\/\">Valen\u00e7a<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cm-moncao.pt\/pt\/Default.aspx\">Mon\u00e7ao<\/a>. The planned initiatives include improving the navigability of the 16-kilometre-long section between the international bridges linking Tui and Valen\u00e7a and Salvaterra and Mon\u00e7ao, modernising the jetties, signposting and promoting the Visit R\u00edo Mi\u00f1o brand.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The work developed by both parties and financed through the European funds Feder with 1.1 million euros, is already bearing fruit with the launch of a river route that will allow to cross the waters of the Minho in a tourist boat and stop on both banks to discover its various attractions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The boat made its presentation trip on Friday 17 December from the Salvaterra wharf in the framework of an event held to present the details of the project. The first vice-president of the Xunta de Galicia and Regional Minister of Presidency, Justice and Tourism, Alfonso Rueda, headed the delegation that enjoyed this inaugural trip, which was formed by the mayors of the four participating municipalities and several representatives of the tourism sector, such as the president of the Galicia Tourism Cluster, Ces\u00e1reo Pardal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The boat is expected to start its trips for the public in the near future and to develop its activity during holiday periods, weekends and public holidays.
