The day will conclude with the presentation of awards to the UK media that best showcase Spanish sustainable initiatives.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Galicia Tourism Cluster’s commitment to sustainable tourism through the Galicia Destino Sostible Product Club<\/a> has aroused interest outside our country and can serve as an example to be followed even in other countries. This is the understanding of those responsible for the Spanish Tourist Office in London<\/a>, who have chosen this entity and the initiative launched in collaboration with the Galicia Tourism Agency<\/a> to participate in the first Spain\u2019s Sustainability Day<\/a>, an event to be held in the British capital on April 26 to address “the new challenges of tourism, from climate change, mass tourism and the impact of health and economic crises” and show “the sustainable initiatives that have been launched in Spain in recent years”.<\/p>\n

Turespa\u00f1a explains that the conference will bring together “leading professionals from the tourism industry and sustainability academics” to talk about “sustainable tourism strategies in Spain”, both “from the social aspect of sustainability to how to deal with mass tourism at critical points and how to escape from eco-imposture”.<\/p>\n

The president of the Cluster, Ces\u00e1reo Pardal, will intervene in one of the panels in which the session has been divided and will be able to explain the genesis and objectives of Galicia Destino Sostible and take stock of the first months of life of this Product Club. According to Hosteltur<\/a>, will also participate in the conference Graeme Jackson, director of Strategic Cooperation of The Travel Foundation; Carol Rose, director of Sustainability of ABTA; Natalia B\u00f3veda, marketing executive of the Sun Coast; Paul Easto, founder and CEO of the tour operator Wilderness Scotland; Richard Hammond, founder of Green Traveller; Javier Garc\u00eda Cuenca, president of ITH and of the Secretariat of the AMT (Association of Tourist Municipalities); Hazel McGuire, General Manager of the tour operator Intrepid Travel; Teresa Parejo, Director of Sustainability at Iberia; David Mart\u00edn, Manager of New Products and Tourist Trains at Renfe; Jane Ashton, Director of Sustainability at EasyJet; Thomas Power, co-founder & CEO of the tour operator Pura Aventura, and Pedro Saura, President of Paradores, as well as Manuel Butler as Director of OTS in the British capital.<\/p>\n
