People employed in the tourism sector constitute 12.6% of total employment in the Spanish economy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Active workers in tourism during the fourth quarter of the year exceeded three million, reaching 3,018,820, 2.1% more than the same period in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the unemployment rate, it stood at 11.3%, 0.2% less than the same quarter in the previous period. The percentage of unemployed over active women (12.2%) was higher than that of men (10.6%), although the gap between both was reduced in relation to the same period in the previous year, in which unemployment in women it was 12.8%.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In this fourth quarter, those employed in hospitality increased by 5%, mainly highlighting the positive evolution of food and beverage services (with an increase of 7.2%).
