Galicia has taken a significant step forward in its sustainable tourism strategy with the opening of a new hotel within the historic Cabo Silleiro lighthouse in Baiona. This initiative, the first of its kind in the province of Pontevedra, combines heritage conservation, the intelligent reuse of public infrastructure, and a differentiated tourism offering \u2014 all within the framework of Spain\u2019s Coastal Law and a commitment to sustainability.<\/p>\n
The project, backed by a public concession and managed by the company Lighthouse Baiona, allows for the dual use of the lighthouse: maintaining its essential maritime signaling function while introducing high-quality accommodation and dining services aimed at visitors seeking authentic, one-of-a-kind experiences.<\/p>\n
The inauguration ceremony was attended by regional, local, and port authorities, including Ces\u00e1reo Pardal, President of the Galician Tourism Cluster, and Jes\u00fas Picallo, Vice President. Both emphasized the relevance of this type of initiative in diversifying the tourism model and creating added value without compromising environmental or cultural resources.<\/p>\n

Jes\u00fas Picallo highlighted that \u201crecovering iconic spaces for responsible tourism is a smart strategy that bridges the gap between our cultural heritage and the expectations of today\u2019s traveler \u2014 more demanding, more conscious, and in search of unique experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n
The new hotel features 17 rooms and various communal areas, covering more than 2,800 square meters, with an additional outdoor parcel of approximately 1,900 square meters. The architectural integrity and original function of the lighthouse remain intact, with the site continuing to operate as a vital beacon for maritime traffic.<\/p>\n
